The Room Where No One Goes

Locked is a room in the back of the house

No one goes in

No one comes out

The door has been shut

And locked from within

For what it has taken cannot live again

The frame is frayed

The knob lost its shine

It hasn’t seen anyone in a while who is kind

It lies in wait

Its secrets are kept

For those who’ve gone in have never left

They say it’ll feel better

If only you can see

That opening the door isn’t as bad as it seems

But what lies within

Isn’t safe to come out

It’s better for the world to never find out

So the room lies in wait

For the next one to pass

Hoping this time it will be the last
